The firm

Founded in carpentry. It remains the reason our buildings finish as they do.

The practice

SG Construction is a building and carpentry practice based in King's Lynn, operating throughout Norfolk. The company traded for many years as SG Carpentry & Build Ltd; the directors, the team and the standard of work are unchanged. The name was revised because it no longer described the scale of the projects we deliver.

That work now spans extensions, complete renovations, individual new homes and phased commercial contracts on live premises. How it is run has not changed: directly, by the people who will be on site.

Consult. Build. Deliver.

Three phases, one point of responsibility across all of them.

01

Consult

We attend the property, take the brief in full and give a candid assessment of scope, sequence and cost. Where an architect or designer is already appointed, we integrate with them from this stage.

02

Build

One team runs the site: our own craftsmen alongside specialists we have worked with for years. We hold the programme, the trades and the daily decisions, so our clients are never left coordinating a construction site.

03

Deliver

A building is judged on its finish. Because second fix and joinery are completed by our own team, the final ten per cent of the work remains under our control through to handover.

The carpentry advantage

Carpentry and joinery, retained in-house.

Structural carpentry, roofing, first and second fix, staircases, bespoke joinery and fitted furniture are all completed by our own craftsmen. On most contracts this work is subcontracted and the programme bends around external availability. On ours it is planned as an integral part of the build.

It is why "Building & Carpentry" still sits beneath the name. Not sentiment — simply the part of a building a client lives with for the next twenty years.

Where we work

King's Lynn, Hunstanton and throughout west and north Norfolk, and further afield where a project merits it.
